Thematic islands
New energy theme - Hall 7
Sustainable energy is now an integral part of the social debate. The energy crisis has forced Europe to reorient itself in order to minimize its energy dependence. Agriculture can offer part of the solution in this area. Agriculture is involved on both the supply and demand sides.
On the demand side, it is clear that farmers want to make their businesses climate- and energy-neutral through wind and solar energy or biogas plants. But this mindset also means that agricultural businesses can become energy suppliers. The surplus energy produced can tap into a market, namely surrounding residents who connect to the energy grid developed by agricultural businesses. In addition, we are seeing energy producers looking for space to produce energy sustainably, and they often hope to find this in collaboration with farms. After all, there is still space to install solar panels, wind turbines, or generate electricity via biogas plants. It is a win-win situation and could become a new business model for farms.
Thematic island Data transmission - Hall 5
The concept of task cards is no longer unfamiliar. However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the possibilities of new technologies and data transmission. Visitors can find out more about this at this theme island. From soil scans to home computers, related task cards and fragmented treatments on the tractor screen to production cards in the combine harvester or potato harvester. But also further on to customers, processors or government agencies... How does this work, at what levels is it possible, why do we need to go down this road, what protocols are used...?
Together with various brands, we present the unlimited possibilities and advantages of data transmission in one joint location, coordinated by ILVO. You can also gain insight into more crucial questions such as: Who owns the collected data? Who is allowed to use it? And so on.
The thematic island has been set up in collaboration with ILVO, WalDigiFarm, Hilaire Van Der Haeghe, Lemken, Matermaco, and Vantage Agrometius.
Thematic island Workshop Live - Hall 9
The Workshop Live theme island has become a fixture at AGRIBEX. The equipment sector continues to search for quality personnel, and that search is not easy. That is why it is necessary to give visitors a glimpse behind the scenes, and that is what Workshop Live does. For the organization of Workshop Live, AGRIBEX can once again count on the collaboration of Thomas More University College this year. At AGRIBEX, students will have the opportunity to show visitors exactly what the job entails and will be able to tinker with the most modern machines made available by the exhibitors. After all, a fully equipped workshop will be recreated at AGRIBEX.
This year, the focus of the interventions will be on hydraulics, interventions involving electrical equipment, and Isobus connections. There will also be an engine lab at AGRIBEX. In addition to large agricultural machinery, students will also be tinkering with gardening equipment. In this way, Workshop Live offers a variety of perspectives, highlighting the versatility of the job.
Thematic island: Emission-reducing techniques - Hall 7
While agriculture can play a role in the production of new energies to reduce emissions, it is also a source of nitrogen and methane, among other things. Despite limited progress in legislation over the past 2-3 years, many new techniques are emerging. Their value and applicability are not yet widely recognized, and knowledge about them still needs to be disseminated. AGRIBEX aims to achieve this on the Emission Reduction Techniques theme island. The fact is that cattle farmers must reduce their NH3 emissions by 5% by the end of 2025 and by as much as a quarter by 2030. It is not always clear to cattle farmers how they can achieve this without jeopardizing their business model. Hence, there is a great demand for information. Livestock farmers also want to know what systems are available on the market and what the value of those systems is. Will these investments guarantee the results that the government is imposing on cattle farmers, and will the government also accept these systems as a solution?
At AGRIBEX, DLV will also provide ongoing information about the current state of affairs regarding the nitrogen issue and the legislation currently in force.
