The Lely Sphere system is designed for cowsheds with circulation areas consisting of slatted floors. It separates urine from faeces and traps the ammonia produced under and just above the slatted floors. It requires the installation of perforated slats in the slatted floor slots that allow urine but not faeces to percolate, the commissioning of a faeces collection robot (Lely Discovery 120) and the installation of the "Lely Sphere N-Capture" on the slurry mixing hole, creating a depression in the slurry pit and trapping the ammonia. The whole system makes it possible to transform an existing building into a low ammonia emission barn.  

The jury decided to award it a silver sabot, as it has been on the market for a number of years and requires a relatively high level of investment.
